The Foley Elementary Archery Team competed at the national tournament in Louisville, Ky., May 8-9. More than 7,500 students representing 35 states including Alaska and Hawaii competed. The Foley Elementary-Intermediate Team finished 26th in the Nation out of 91 teams representing 35 states (including Alaska and Hawaii ). Foley Middle School finished 52nd out of 106 teams. Both teams broke the 3000 point mark. - Shelby Anderson finished 3rd overall in the nation for 4th Grade girls.
- Dalton Anderson finished 5th overall in the nation for 3rd Grade boys.
- Will McFarland finished 24th overall in the nation for 4th Grade boys.
Coaches Rusty Hinson and Ryan Anderson have done an outstanding job preparing the boys and girls for this level of competition. A special thanks to the Foley community for their immediate support in donating nearly $10,000 in two weeks to insure that our children were able to attend this event. Both the Foley Elementary and Foley Middle School teams have qualified for the World Archery Competition to be held in Orlando on October 6-9. Prior to these wins, the Foley Schools Archery Club team took 48 students from Foley Elementary, Intermediate and Middle schools to compete in the NASP Archery State Tournament in Birmingham. The 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students finished 4th out of 30 teams. The 7th and 8th grade team finished 4th as well. More than 1,000 students from throughout Alabama competed in this tournament. |
