Our Mission and Vision

In partnership with the community, the Baldwin County Public Schools' mission is to provide a quality education that fosters learning.  Our vision is to create a world class learning environment.

Our Community

Baldwin County is located in the southwest corner of the state, bordered by the Gulf of Mexico, Mobile Bay, Florida, and adjoining counties in Alabama. It is one of the largest counties in land area east of the Mississippi River, home to more than 157,000 residents, and is one of the fastest growing counties in Alabama.

Baldwin County is the location of the first public school in Alabama, built in 1799 by the community of Tensaw, and today's schools remain community centers. The schools in the county are located in seven areas identified as "feeder patterns",  the educational path a student takes from kindergarten through 12th grade.

Achievements and Awards

Baldwin County has been recognized by a number of organizations and agencies for excellence in education.  These honors include:

The Baldwin County Public School System was one of only 15 school systems recognized in 2007 by the American School Board Journal for its outstanding performance in classroom technology. The publication noted that the Baldwin County Public School system had gone from being one of the most technology-deprived in both the state and nation in 2002 to exceeding all standards for technology and computer connectivity. The school system continues to garner state and national awards for use of technology.

The Baldwin County School System was recognized by the American Association of School Administrators and Sodexho School Services for its strong relationships between schools and community partners.  The Civic Star program promotes partnerships between schools and the individuals, civic groups, religious organizations, and businesses in the communities each school serves.  School systems which receive the Civic Star Award have demonstrated an active community-support program which has resulted in measurable results in improving student learning and assisting students to become good citizens.  A number of state winners and one national winner are selected annually.

SchoolMatch is a national service which maintains records on all public school systems in the country.  Each year, using criteria such as test scores, class size, accreditation, instructional expenditures and teacher salaries, SchoolMatch helps families select schools for their children.  Typically, only 16% or less of the nation's schools meet the needs of students and their families and are named as winners of this award.  Baldwin County has been named as a recipient of this award for seven years.
